Insurance on exhusband?
My sis has life insurance on her exhusband, they got the poilcy when they we married he is remarried and the insurance company tells her the policy is still good, her son is also going to benfit from the policy.
you only have to have an insurable interest in the life of the insured when the policy is written. that you later cease to have such an interest does not cancel the policy.
and if your sister is receiving child support payments on behalf of their son, he and therefore she still has an insurable interest.

If she is the "owner" of the policy and is making the premium payments it is still good. If the ex owns the policy he has the right, if he chooses (or thinks about it) to change to beneficiary. It all comes down to who "owns" it. The policy will clearly state who the owner is.

what is the question?
HC Investigator
probably so. if it is life insurance that is a typical arrangement since the child is a minor. if it is a medical plan it could be a COBRA policy for which he is entitled to for 36 months after the divorce. COBRA premiums are usually higher than regular premiums.

So?

There isn't a question here.
Marital status has NOTHING to do with the life insurance policy. If she owns the policy, she controls who the beneficiary is, and she gets to pay the premiums. Period. Even after a divorce. He can't change his mind.
