Are you talking about his renters insurance, or his health insurance? Very, very few employers will allow an employee to add a "domestic partner" to their group policy. He'll have to ask the employer, and if they say yes, then he has to be willing to name you a "domestic partner".
Very few insurers will allow two named insureds on one renter's policy. Again, he'd have to ask his agent.
For car insurance, he can add you as a driver, but your car needs to be insured in YOUR name. |

For health insurance, it depends on the plan, but most of the time, you'd have to be married. Have him check with his HR department, since it's possible that his plan could allow you to be added.
If you're talking about car insurance, then it's very likely that you could be added without being married - he should check with his insurance agent. |

I assume you are talking about health insurance? If so, then no, you are not a legal dependent of him. However, in my state, if you live together and are common law married (you file your taxes together) you can be a dependent without a marraige certificate. There are also some plans that cover domestic partners, even same sex partnerships. Talk to the HR person that handles the group health plan with his employer. They should know or can find out for you. |

If you are talking about auto insurance then yes, you can be added as a driver. I have not experienced this being allowed in Health insurance. Talk to his agent....It's worth a try and the worse thing is they can say "No". |

Renters/Homeowners/Auto - many companies will allow it (and require you be listed as a driver on the auto policy)
Health - unknown, probably not unless you have a child together then at least the child could be added. |

For auto 9 times out of 10 you will have to be included or excluded if you live under the same roof. It's not a bad idea because if you both have vehicles you'll get the multi car discount. |
