Alright, I went to the doctors the other day, and I got on birth control (im 19) and I am still on my parents insurance. So i want to pay for the birth control out of pocket so that it dosent show up on the insurance. I went and picked it up at the pharmacy and I saw that they put it on the insurance. I had them take it off right away. Do you think it will still show up on the insurance? thank you!

Stop worrying right now because no, it will not show up if you paid full price for it instead of your copay. The pharmacy did a reverse charge to the insurance company via computer to computer. This is normal procedure and besides we do not get EOB's (explanation of benefits) from the insurance company for prescriptions that are paid on our behalf, like we get for medical charges that are paid on our behalf. The only thing is, if your parents were to go to the pharmacy and ask for a print out of all charges that they paid for like for income tax purposes, then the original charge would appear along with the reversal entry. This being the middle of March hopefuly they have already obtained this for all charges incurred in 2007. This is not even needed unless they itemize deductions on their return. |

The pharmacy should have changed it to the cash price. This way it avoids the insurance payment and shows in the pharmacy system as cash pay.
Although they took it off right away, I would still give the pharmacy a call to make sure that the confirmation came back that it had been retracted.
And on a side note, I would let the pharmacy staff know to set it up on cash pay every month so that it doesnt get insurance involved again. |

no it should show up but to save you from any future incidents.. you may want to look into linx2health its a medical saving card u could use own your on. No it won't show up-they hadn't billed the insurance yet-just applied it to collect your co-pay.
But why don't you want your parents to know you are on birth control? I would think that they would be happy that you are taking a proactive approach to an adult behavior. After all, you are over 18. It might set their minds at ease. |

As a safety factor, since you are not taking responsibility for your actions, would be easy. The safety factor is to call the insurance company and change the address for billing.
If the addition and the subtraction show up, the bill will be in your hands from a post office box somewhere. Once you have the situation covered, then change the address back to that of your parents.
