In some states and with some insurance companies, yes...but this would not be advisable. You would most likely get a very high rate because you couldn't take advantage of having your parents and any applicable discounts on your policy.

It's also a bad idea in most cases for a minor to get insurance without their parents listed on the policy as named insureds because in many states, the parents of a minor can be sued for damage caused by the minor. So, if you cause an accident, and your parents aren't on the policy, the victim of the accident can get payment under your auto insurance but then also sue your parents...and your insurance wouldn't help them. It could work out very very badly for them

So...depending on the laws of your state, it's possible (in my state, Arizona, it's possible) but it would not be a good idea.

Doubt it since you can't sign any type of contract and you can't be held liable if you get sued.

You can with some companies (not many), but it will be so expensive your head will spin. You will be missing out on almost all the credits that companies offer...no-previous insurance, marrage, age, insurance score, homeowners, multi-car, homeowner....

no check with your local police deptmnt and they can explain it in detail.

In most states, yes.

I've written lots of policies with a 16 year old as the named insured.
