Homeowners policy. The standard homeowners policy has liabiltiy coverage included.

What is your question? If you have insurance, your agent should have sold you all the insurance needed.

There is insurance that is called catastrophe or umbrella insurance. It covers you for law suits such as if someone was injured falling down your steps or your car crashed and it was your fault and people sue you. Let's face it if you injure someone in a bad accident and they spend some time in a hospital a few hundred thousand of expense is not out of line.

This insurance requires you to have a minimum amount of car and homowners liability insurance and then will pay the difference between that and $1,000,000. It is fairly cheap e.g. might be $ 3 or 400 and year. Your Auto or Homeowner's insurance agent should be able to help you. Usually, you want to make sure the umbrella policy is at least as much as your assets.

What kind of law suits? In general homeowner's insurance already covers this. You'll have to be more specific.

Yeah, it's called homeowners insurance. It covers the owner of the home if they are sued. Normally there are restrictions in most states that prevent creditors from taking your home but homeowners insurance, or umbrella policies will cover you.
