I recently claimed on insurance i took out on a suite, i bought insurance with sofa's, the 3 seater was too badly damaged to keep in the house so i had to put it outside, I told them this when i rand and offerd to take photo's but they said nodont worry. basically they only offered to recover 2 seater but refused to even assess 3 seater as it had gone. Ive recieved an email saying manufactureres no longer have that particular fabric in production so they are just refunding the cost of my premium!! ive never heard of any insurers doing this, when i try to contact them by phone i was told that that was their final offer and their last correspondance with me!! so i now have to go through policy and follow complaint procedure they wouldnt even give me the contact number over phone they just said its in your policy docs....ive never been treated so badly ever!! i dont understand why they are so dissmissive are they allowed to do that even though i have refused to accept offer. I insured the suite for £1500 at the time.

They should have to replace like with like so a similar quality fabric. I doubt you have claim on 3 seater though as it's not there. It sounds like they're taking the p**** coz you're young. Write and ask them where in the policy it states that they can do this. If it doesn't they can't do it! At the same time I suggest you politely point out in written form that you will be persuing this through a solicitor if it's not resolved to your satisfaction. put cc at the bottom left of the letter and make up a name so they think you're copying it to a solicitor. Hope this helps they're devious b*******. Only communicate with them in writing and don't accept the refund or that is seen as acceptance of their "offer". |

These insurances are more trouble than they are worth.
Write them a letter setting out what has happened and been said so far and giving them 28 days to settle your claim otherwise you will take them to the Small Claims Court.
Make sure you keep all correspondence and note down all dates in a diary.
This is a very cheap process and the court hearing usually takes place in a small room with the parties round a table.
You don't need a solicitor you can get the forms from your local county court. |

If your claim is genuine, write to them and advise them that you will take them through the Small claim of the county court, if they do not pay, but I also suggest that you read your policy and specially small print, in case ! |

This is total BS, I've been hearing a lot of stories like this. These insurance companies shouldn't be able to bale out on their responsibilities because you make a claim on them. That defeats the purpose of having insurance, I think the government should crack down on this fraud their trying to pull.There was a terminally ill man who had insurance, and he was in contact with them all the while, after he passed away his wife went to collect and was told they would just give her back the premiums instead of the $450k she was due from the policy, AND THE COURT sided with the insurance company! I think it's time for new judges if they can't see what's wrong with that. |

Put it like this, there's some dude or hag sitting behind her computer & telephone thinking "let's see how long i can drag this out" & "what kind of bonus will i get when we dont pay up", all you have to do is keep at em, hassle em like f**k, 5 or 6 times a day on the blower & continuous emails, you will get your money but you must keep on at em till they are sick o ye and get bored and see no bonus coming after a certain period of time. |
