I was just offered $16,500 for pain and suffering from an auto insurance company as a result of a car accident that broke my left arm. They paid for my totalled car. They are paying my medical bills separately. But do you think $16,500 is enough? I still have tingles in my fingers and I wonder when I get older if they will hurt more and cost medically more for me; I don't want to be a lawsuit maniac and seek $$$$$$. Thanks for your advice.

It depends. You mention that you are still having tingling in your fingers. How long ago was the wreck? Is your arm still healing? In general, injuries get better over time, not worse. If this was a clean break, chances are that you will not suffer in future years. And to receive any consideration for future problems, you will have to show that there is a strong chance that it will occur. (This is true whether you prove it to the adjuster or to a jury.) What does your medical reports say about this?
For a clean break, 16k sounds like a decent settlement. |

I can only say that $16,500 is not a lot money. If there is anything wrong with your arm later on, let's hope not, it will cost you more than that amount for sure. I would recommend that you consult this with your doctor about your condition. Do as many tests as needed to make sure your arm is going to be okay.
If your arm is going to be fully healed, then I think $16,500 is okay. You knew that if you ask for too much money, then they will go to the court with you. If you hire a lawyer, then you might get more money, but most of it will go to the lawyer. Just keep this in mind. |

no..i knew a guy who had whiplash and was off work for 1 month and was completely fine after 2 or 3 and he got just over $25000...push for more money...find a crooked doctor who will make your injuries and side effects sound lots worse that they really are....lol... |

If you don't have a lawyer already, you need to consult one right away. If you do have a lawyer ask him or her for a recommendation. That way, if you don't receive enough for your pain in suffering, you can sue the lawyer for malpractice (within time limits). |
