If they want you to be an agent, it's a straight commission basis. There's no minimum - after your training period, if you don't sell, you don't eat. |

AllState are the delightfully ethical corporation that have decided to stop writing coverage in Louisiana because a Court of Law decided they actually had to pay out the millions of dollars their insurance contracts had promised Hurricane Katrina victims who were policy-holders.
Maybe they're okay to work for, maybe they aren't, but I sure as heck wouldn't want to buy "insurance" from them, apparently they don't want to pay up without being bullied by the government! |

You don't specify what type of role at Allstate, but if it is with an agent you will receive a salary for a defined period (training) and then transition to an incentive-based structure where it will be based on sales revenue.
If it is with the insurance company itself in a staff role, it will be salaried with appropriate benefits.
Regardless of the wrath of the uniformed, Allstate is a highly regarded employer, a successful publicly-traded company, and an organization that provides solid training, developpment, and advancement opportunities.

they're completely different jobs. you will be on commission w/ Allstate. Do a search for people who have had insurance agent jobs and you'll see what they pay-of course it varies by performance. |

Until you are ready for commissioned sales, it's best to get the bird in hand before looking at two in the bush.
You can make a killing on selling insurance, however. But it takes discipline, time and effort. |
