michael z | Is Hillary Clinton's mandatory health coverage fair to young healthy individuals who dont want coverage? |
As a young healthy self employed American I resent Hillaries proposal that I would HAVE to have mandatory insurance coverage. Why? to subsidize coverage for others, lets face it insurers want more low risk customers than risky customers thats how they make their money. I haven't had a claim in my entire adult life and its much cheaper for me to pay for an annual physical out of pocket than to pay monthly premiums. So why should I be forced into mandatory insurance, I already subsidize others insurance through my payroll withholdings. If I'm willing and financially able to assume the risk what business is it of Hillaries? |

i am assuming you have at least a million dollars to cover any medical emergency?
the principle of insurance is the law of large numbers; which means you take a group of people and calculate how much money would be needed to pay claims; in this group you have healthy and sick people; the healthy normally pay for the sick, but then again, there is no guarantee that someday you find yourself sick and with no insurance would be responsible to pay yourself;
do you think you are exempt from ===cancer, heart disease or possibly a stroke someday in the future? a hospital stay or treatment could run into the hundreds of thousands to pay;
there is a misnomer that most bankruptcies are due to credit card debt; most people file due to huge hospital bills they could not pay and lost their homes, assets and life savings;
i find it odd that most states require car insurance, but dont for health insurance;
also; some states will not insure you if you have a pre-existing condition; that is why either Clinton or any other future president needs to consider getting some kind of health insurance system going; that is the reason we have over 47 million uninsured americans; if you take the entire country and insure them, then you have a more accurate way for keeping the premiums lower; of those uninsured, many are employed or cant afford what the companies are charging and take a "risk' they wont need it;
also; if you are in an auto accident and go to a hospital to be checked out; this could cost as much as $2k ; can you pay that out of pocket? could you pay for other treatment if you are seriously injured? |

There are so many problems with the whole Marxist medical concept.
Basically, the democrats are trying to invent ways to squander a trillion dollars, whether for healthcare or global warming.
In contrast, Republicans are looking for ways to deploy every available military recruit in some form of military conflict. |

Your disregard for your fellow citizens notwithstanding, why do you only point out Senator Clinton's health plan? Do the others which are so similar not bother you? Or is this just another anti Clinton rant.
For your information I, and many others, are also quite able to provide for our own healthcare without the need to secure insurance. However, being a concientous citizen of this country I am more than willing to pay a fair shre to insure adequate coverage for all. I am intelligent enough to understand that this benifits me as well as those with health care. |

Not familiar with the specifics of the plan. I know we won't agree but some points to consider:
1.There are a lot of people who rail against Medicare and Medicaid but when their parents need medical care or have to go into a nursing home they are glad they didn't have to drain their savings. In NJ 5 years ago it was 8,000 a month.
2. I hate to see something that is mandatory. But a lot of people who are healthy may decide not to be insured so save some money and then get sick or their children will get sick and the bills will wipe them out. Welfare, food stamps, depression, medicaid, medicare who knows.
3. Don't you think the richest country in the history of the world should find some way to provide health care for it's citizens? It may not be a mandatory for everyone plan but some plan? I think we have something like 46 million people without health insurance.
4. We all pay local taxes for education and yet there are many people without children or their children have grown. We do it because it is for the greater good of society to have better educated people. Maybe there is a similar feeling that it is for the greater good that we have reasonably healthy children/citizens so we can be a productive nation. |

You might want to consider a high deductible health plan (to minimize your outlay) before you are diagnosed with hemochromotosis, Von Hippel Lindau Sydrome, MS, polycystic kidney disease, Barret's esophagus, Chron's disease, leukemia, or any other disorder they could discover during your annual physical. If you had an HSA, you could even pay for that physical with pre-tax dollars. Good luck to you.
And if you didn't have health insurance, got diagnosed with one of those diseases or some other, and had to go on Medicaid, how fair is it that I would be forced to pay for your care when you insisted you didn't need health insurance? There isn't a perfect system out there, but think about it. |

No, socializing anything is bad. Take the government out all together and have doctors compete for your business. just like every other market. the prices will drop and the quality will increase.
What makes people think government will be able to provide a quality product for everyone by socializing it. Has government shown that they are capable of doing this through demonstration?
Usually it seems I pay more and get less through government. Going to the doctor will be like going to the DMV. Stand in lines, fill out paperwork, when I fill it out wrong I start over, rude service personnel who work for the government and don't care, and doctors who are not the best because they are cheap and controlled by government bureaucracy.
Sounds wonderful!!
The rich wont care because they will not use this method they will pay for the good doctors who will be private practitioners.
kinda like if you really want help your gunna need to pay for it yourself. |
