this is not something i recommend. the reasons? well, when you need customer service or claims service you will never speak to the same person twice. it can be very hard to get things done. also, unless you are very familiar with insurance you can end up not getting the actual coverage you need or thats best for your needs. also that 10% discount will most likely disappear after 6 months and your rates will go up anyway. call an independent agent in your area. they write for a lot of companies and i wouldn't doubt if they can find you coverage just as cheap with a good company. that way you have an actual person right there when you need help and who will help you in times of claims and /or any problems you may have. i have had a lot of clients come in after being very unhappy about the policies they have purchased online. |

Its very impersonal to get online insurance. I would rather see a real live person. When dealing with Any insurance company, its always best to deal with a Real person/agent.
Useing a web site for quotes is good, but stop there. Contact a local agent (real person) and see what they offer.
When dealing with ANYTHING over the internet, you don't have the luxury of asking questions on something.
My advice, Find a local agent "real person". |

Just be careful. I moved from Saga to Barclays because they were cheap. They offered cash back, which I had to chase up. I then needed to claim on my buildings insurance for a broken drain. They wouldn't pay up. They sent an assessor to see it, who said it must have happened prior to November when I joined them. I am £300 out of pocket. |

Yes it can be . However you need to check what you are doing just the same as if you were buying insurance from elsewhere.
I bought my car insurance and my house insurance on line. In fact I had dealt with my house insurer over the phone and then found out they would be cheaper on line so with their agreement I transferred to Internet dealing. |

Providing you enter all the information and understand what you are buying then it SHOULD be reliable - but last year Hastings Direct cancelled 3500 (count them) policies due to an error in programming.
Of course buying online makes it difficult to ask someone for advice on cover/ terms/ conditions/ exclusions or any other insurance matter you may have. The loss of these benefits is what makes the quote cheaper. |
