You may want to check with your insurance agent, usually one accident every few years won't hurt you, but repeated accidents and high claims will make your rates shoot up and you will be considered high risk.
I had my first accident in 6 years and my rates didn't change.
You'd be paying $700 more out of pocket to do the repairs, and I doubt that your rate would go up $700 a year.
Also most insurance companies will recommend reputable, reliable body shops, if you pay, you're on your own if anything goes wrong. |

Depends on what insurance company you are with, but with my company, Farmers Insurance, your insurance rate wont go up if the payout for the damage is less than $750.
In your case, youd get $700 payout, IF the adjuster accepts your estimate. The insurance company will do their own estimate.
I would file a claim for that amount, since it wont affect your rates. |

In this case, I would recommend using your insurance, the damage is more than the deductible. Had it been less that the deductible I would have recommended to pay out od pocket |

Every time you put in a claim your insurance premium goes up.
It won't take long for the insurance company to make up the 700.
So it would be best to just pay that small an amount and save your claim for something big. I took down the garage door, I know it wasn't to clever but my husband fixed it and the car and our insurance never knew. |
