Is it hard to get to get good car insurance with bad credit even though I have a good driving record?

It isn't difficult just expensive if your credit is bad or you are within a certain age (ie young).

Also there are certain carriers that will not insure you unless you have been insured by another insurer first. The exception to this rule is if you just bought the car and it is your first car and obviously did not need auto insurance before.

no, not all insurance companies use credit check. Use a small company that does not have a famous name. You can pay this on a month to month bases.

Your credit score is one of the things insurance companies look at when deciding whether to commit to entering into a contract with you.

Less than desireable credit generally is a red flag that the insured is not as responsible as other drivers, and tends to lead to higher premiums.

Yes. I have the same problem. Have terrible credit, but haven't had a ticket since 1982 or accident since 1995. None of the big companies will insure me, until I pay outrageous premiums from "we'll insure anybody" companies for at least a year.

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.

I will hereby talk from my personal experience.

I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay attention to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

a good place to start in my humble opinion is astraight to the point ebook with question and answer I found :

if it helps kindly remember me in your voting!.. cheers!

What is "good"? If your credit is bad enough (under 400), you're going to have a REALLY hard time finding a main street company WILLING to write you at any price at all. You'll probably end up with Progressive, Leaders, or Geico, and it will cost a lot.

Larry isn't up with the market; every state except California uses credit scoring to determine both rates, and eligibility. It's been that way for years.

Yes, different companies look at driving records & credit differently. Some barely consider credit, while others use it as their main indicator. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Take care,

anyone can get car insurance, bad credit or not. it's whether you're willing to pay the premium they are asking for.

wheeler
I can't see why bad credit should effect car insurance. I can see a bad driving record but what should they care about your finances, you pay up front anyway.

I've never know an auto insurance company to care what kind of credit you have.
