Any company must have employers insurance to protect their employees if they employ more than 5 people. |

EL is a requirement where there are employees working (ie anyone other than a husband/wife team, a one-man band or workers other than directors. PL is not compulaory but it is a very, very wise option as in the UK we have managed to create a "compensation culture" and not having PL insurance can cripple a small business in the event of a lawsuit. Also anyone attempting to get contracts/tenders without PL will often not win them as Local Authorities for example will only use contractors with PL in place and will ask for documentary evidence. |

Employer's Liability (EL) insurance is a legal requirement. Most people would also incorporate Public Liability (PL) within the same policy as in today's litigious society you'd be foolish not to have some form of cover in place for any damage, loss or injury caused by the company. |
