Is it legal for a company to take your whole paycheck for medical insurance after returning from med. leave?
I was recently on medical leave, but before I left my employment status was wrong.I was actually eligible for insurance in July,so they started taking out medical insurance from my check to cover all the way back to July. Now they took my whole paycheck 620.50 to cover when i was off and some back pay insurance that I owed. I was just wondering if it was legal for them to take my whole check

Yes.

The alternative would have been that they could have let your insurance lapse, since you didn't pay the premiums. Given that you were on medical leave, that's probably something you wouldn't have wanted either.

When you were out sick it is your responsibility to make sure your coverage does not lapse. You are very fortunate that your employer covered your share of the contribution. Be thank full your employer showed some concern for you seeing you did not make any attempt to cover the monthly premium on your own. If I were you I would be thanking my boss for his understanding your situation during your medical leave.

Yes, it is legal.
It is a courteousy of your employer to pay your premiums while you are off.
Call the HR department and see if you owe any more.
If you do, you may be able to set up a repayment plan where they do not take your entire check. All they can do is say no.

Yes, it's very legal. When you agreed to take the insurance offered by the employer, you also agreed for them to withhold the costs of same from your wages. Since you now owe the money for the health premiums, they are entitled to take what is owed to them.
