Torie | Is it legal to have life insurance on someone without their permission? |
|
|

 |
Well, an insurance company won't issue the POLICY without their written permission (among other things), and if you forge their signature, that's DEFINATELY illegal.
You can't do it. Well, only in the movies. But it's damn hard to hire the double to procure the id, to donate the blood/urine/saliva for the test with the insurance company's rep, who can ALSO duplicate their signature. |
|

DENISE

no
they haft to have their john hand-cock on that paper, or you can be sued |

Southernvixen needs to talk to her dad. You can not buy insurance on a neighbor or stranger down the street. You have to have insurable interest in order to obtain the insurance and generally need the insured's signature to purchase it. However, it can be done and has been done. If the policy is less than two years old and fraud is suspected, the claim can be denied. |

Generally no. |

legal - no - the police would be knocking on your door inquiring why you had a policy on your deceased neighbor. |

Is it legal? No.
Is it possible? Unfortunately, yes, it's technically possible. After all, if there's money to be made doing it, someone is going to spend a lot of time and effort trying to figure out a way around all the rules.
However, once again, let me stress -- it's illegal. The only way it could be done is to steal the identity of the person you want to insure. (In other words, the person to be insured is the person who must be present at the time of application and must sign all of the documentation, as well as produce a photo ID to prove they are the proposed insured.) Stealing someone's identity would, of course, constitute fraud. So, even if you managed to do it, there's a good chance you'd get caught somewhere along the line. Especially since insurance companies are under a lot of scrutiny since the Patriot Act has sent various nefarious types in search of new ways to launder money. |

yes, you can have a policy on who ever you want, your neighbor or the stranger down the road, all you need to know are some basic information on the person such as their D.O.B and SS#. I really think this practice should be against the law, it's not a moral thing to do. This is just my opinion.
ok, i was wrong, i just asked my dad, I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. I really thought I was right :( |
