If you tell your insurance company your moving, they will make you get your own policy, unless your moving to a college dorm.

If you don't tell your insurance company, they may deny a claim if they find out. The most likely way they would find out would be an updated driver's license.

Either way when you turn 25, they will make you get your own policy.

The real answer is that, yes, you will be able to stay on her policy. BUT, God forbid you ever make a claim, because the company will satisfy that claim and then cancel you immediately for lying (not telling) to them.

Good luck getting good insurance for a long time after that..

If you are wise, you will call your insurance agent to get the correct information. It would be important to clarify how many cars are covered, and your age. How long will your mother be willing to support an adult child? If you can't afford the expense then reconsider your options. Best wishes.

Surprisingly it can be cheaper sometimes being by yourself. If your mom has average credit or below & you have no credit then your price may be lower by yourself. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Go to: http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=615451&Type=auto

Take care,

Yes, as long as the car is registered in HER name, you are a listed driver, and you've changed the garaging address of the car you use to reflect the new address.

Assuming you're under 25 and have a worse credit score than your mother, yes, your insurance will be higher on your own - but you'll need to get a quote from a local agent to see how much higher.

Yes, you can stay under your mother's policy. Insurers want to know the identities of all licenced driver's in the household, and where they are insured and if they are not insured elsewhere, they will want to have them listed as an operator on the policy. However, insurers want to know if there are any other regular operators of the vehicle(s) being insured, and they will also want to know if and where they are insured. Failure to inform the insurer of the above, or failure to inform that a licenced driver has moved into the household during the policy term, is considered misrepresentation and will cause the policy to be voidable. Insurers do not care if a listed driver has moved, all they want to know is where they are insured. What they WILL want to know is if you take the vehicle with you to another state, city or even another part of the city where you were living before. Many insurers base their rates on where the vehicle is used most often or where it is garaged at night, and they will often use zip codes to determine your rate. So if it's just you who are moving, then there's no problem. If you are taking the vehicle with you, talk to your broker/agent.

I know from personal experience that you can stay on you parents car insureance when you move out. I still am, married and everything. If you do go on your own policy it will depend on your age as to how much it will cost you.
