Mark's Mine | Is it wise to have a Hospital accident Insurance Plan if I don't have a regular health insurance plan? |
I can afford health insurance for my family. Everyone in my family is very active in hiking and other low risk activities. Should we still have an accident plan to cover accidents. For $30 a day, I can get up to $800 a day in hospital benefits. Is this a good thing or a scam? |

This does not sound like a good deal. $30 per day is $915 per month, on average. If you can afford that for something that just covers accidents, you can afford real health insurance, which is not much more and also covers illness. |

An accident plan can be good as a supplement if you can afford the extra premium but I generally tell my clients it is not worth it. Check what your policy covers to see if you really need it. Also, check other policies because $30 per day is very expensive for an accident plan. |

I promote a discount dental program that has a dental, vision, prescription drug, chiropractic, medical and several other benefits for$39.95 a month. Should you need to be hospitalized, and the anticipated charges are more than $2500.00, an advocate will be assigned to negotiate the best possible fees for the hospital services This could be the answer to your situation, |

From person to person or parent to parent, I do recommend an accident plan. I don't really do any risky activities but I still have one! You never know what could happen! I also have and recommend a critical care plan that would cover you in the event you should be diagnosed with cancer, a tumor, etc. Your health insurance will cover your medical bills in the event of an accident or illness but what is going to cover the house payment, food, utilities, bills, etc. What if something happens to the provider of the family and you can't work! Or, even the children, are you really going to work if your child is in the hospital?!!? Both of those plans are good things!
Now, from an insurance agent to a person...that seems very high. I would question the amount of premium. $30 a day! No way! I sell for almost every critical care and accident plan out there and don't know a one that would cost that much! Contact an agent, don't get quotes or sign up for anything off the internet! |
