Yes it is. Especially if you are on medication for it. Companies like to see that the 'issue' is being controlled. IF you have recently changed meds or have a new diagnosis they get scared. |

All the answers are good and can apply. Were there any other health issues mentioned, any family histories, are your parents living as well as siblings?. How much are you applying for and is it in line with your income and estate needs? There are speciality companies that might work, but any ratings for various conditions would increase the price. Is there group insurance where you work? If so, is it from a company which says the life ins. is transferable.? This means you can take it with you and/or convert it to a permanent policy. In many companies group policies are guaranteed issue. Where are you in the treatment cycle for your depression? Would your Dr. write a letter in your behalf? There are some answers out there in the life ins. world and you need an advocate besides youself. Good Luck |

Can be the main concern is what prescriptions you take. If you still need it try getting small policy like 25-50k from a couple companies and you should have less questions. |

Yes, mental health is considered. Certain mental health conditions increase the likelyhood of suicide and hence, influence life insurance. |

It's definately a concern, however, not as much as physical health because many policies flat out exclude suicide, and all have a suicide exclusion for the first 2-5 years (varies by state) during the contestable period.
so if there's ALSO a physical component, that's probably more relevant. |

Yes. With the decline letter, you should be able to get a more specific reason for decline either sent to you or your doctor. Once you have this information, review it with your agent (or if they aren't independent, an independent agent) to see if you can do better. |
