Is my new insurance policy a good deal? (Progressive)?
I just got new auto insurance and it seems too good to be true because I’ve been paying $300/month prior to this for just my fiancé and I. It’s through Progressive and here are the details:

BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY
BI $100,000 EACH PERSON - $300,000 EACH ACCIDENT
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY - $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT

MEDICAL EXPENSE $5,000 LIMIT PER PERSON

COMPREHENSIVE ACV LESS $100 DEDUCTIBLE

COLLISION ACV LESS $500 DEDUCTIBLE

LOAN/LEASE PAYOFF COVERAGE
25% OF THE ACTUAL CASH VALUE

RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT $600 PER OCCURRENCE

UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORISTS
BI $100,000 EACH PERSON/$300,000 EACH ACCIDENT
PROPERTY DAMAGE $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT

The policy is only $100/month for both of us. We’re under 25 and not married so is this good coverage?

Thanks!
Additional Details
Thanks for all the info and yes, It's forreal. I was surprised too. Switch :)

It is not bad, but you might want to up the property damage to at least 100,000. If you were in an accident that was your fault and totaled your car and an expensive Mercedes or BMW it could easily be more than 50,000 in damage. The company will only pay that amount and will come after you for the difference. You might raise your comprehensive deductible to 500 and see if that won't help offset the difference in premium.

Progressive is a good company. I'm an Agent and have my personal auto/atvs with them also! They save me about $175 a month with 3X the amount of coverage. There's myths out there that Progressive is not as great when it comes to claims pay out, but I'd rather argue with the company once every 4-5 years over a claim and save $1000s of dollars in the process. I would switch!

i write for progressive and that is unbelievable! i would like to know the state you live in if you don't mind because that rate is impressive if its correct!

I want your insurance. I pay over 100.00 a month , about the same coverage clear record, no accidents and over 35. For 1 vehicle.

No, thats not a bad policy at all and actually for your age and financial risk you're very well covered.

The only thing I would raise is the rental value. Its 20/day for 30 days max, which gives you $600 total. But thats not $600 for a week.

You'll be hard pressed finding a rental car for $20 a day, and raising the benefit level on that will only cause maybe a 3-4 dollar a month increase.

But yeah, those limits and coverage options are very sound.

Don, thats good advice, but what are the odds he'll total a vehicle with an acv over $50K vs. the odds he'll file a comp claim? I've just worked on both sides of ins fence (claims and sales) and have seen many more instances of comp vs. total over 50K.

There are only a small handfull of vehicles with a depreciated value over $50,000 on the road.

Sounds good. :) I had Progressive for a few months and really liked them. I canceled mid-month and they told me they were refunding my money without me even asking! They were super nice!

If this is for real im switching yea its good....

The rate is pretty good. I'm with Progressive and I found them to be less expensive than most insurance companies I received quotes from...though my rate is not that good. My only suggestion is that you adjust the property damage liability to at least 100,000.

rambo123
they are very reliable... you may want to add full glass coverage and towing to the policy very minimal charge
