maybe not today, since social security is run by the government it would not be unusual to see that in a deficit also. There would be a sight to see ,'the government having to bail itself out of a hole! Every since social security had went into effect each administration has tried their best at making it better or trying to disrobe the internal structure and for what reason is a good guess. Can't they just leave the damned thing alone, at least it works! I'm a senior citizen and I have seen 9 administrations so far and now comes another, just so perhaps he will be of a younger discipline and won't be a "yes man" for all the ploys of stupidity we've seen in the last one. |

Social Security is not healthy. Those of us paying into it today are paying for people that get Social Security today. It is not going into an account that will pay for us later. That money is gone.
By the time Baby Boomers retire, there will be no money for us to get Social Security. Who is going to pay for our Social Security checks?
And Social Security money is being borrowed against by the federal government. Every party does it and no one stops it.
Social Security or getting your own private retirement account, neither system is perfect. The money may not be there for either system. But I would rather take care of my own money then have the government use it and not give it back to me. And, if its my money then my family would get it if I die. With Social Security you just lose it. You family does not get your money.
