No, not necessarily.
It completely depends on the company you are insured with.
Farmers Insurance, is a company that allows past due payments, since they collect an advanced monthly premium, just in case you were to miss a payment.
If not, you will cancel on your due date. |

As far as I know, like with credit card payments, the grace period is only a few days (4-5) following the payment due date to allow payment to go through whether by mail or by other means, the 30 days is not the grace period, just the period which has been pre paid by the previous monthly payment. |

The above poster is the most accurate. it totally depends on the company. With State Farm Insurance at the beginning of the policy we collect two months, one in a reserve account to allow a longer grace period to get your payment in to us. |

No. Actually your check must arrive 7 days prior to the start date. |

Not at all. If you miss the "due date" the insurance company must send you a cancellation notice, IF this is an installment payment. If it's a renewal payment, in some states, they don't have to send you anything - the policy just lapses.
If this is a CANCELLATION date, and not a DUE date, there is NO extra time. Some companies honor postmarks, some don't. |
