Is there a life insurance that can be purchased for a 90 year old lady?

I've heard it said that there is no one and no thing that is uninsurable if you're prepared to pay a high enough premium. Having said that, the premium on a 90 year old would be so high that there wouldn't be any point in taking out the insurance.

So the answer is a qualified no.

Usually there isn't because all life insurance policies expires between the age of 95 to 100. Even if a 90 year old lady does want it, 99% of life insurance companies are not going to insure her because of high mortality rate.

Like Oz said, if money is no object, SOMEONE will write it.

But if you're looking for a policy that pays out more than you paid in, it's not going to happen.

Yes. She would be looking at an annual premium of about $110/thousand with a minimum of $100000 of coverage, assuming she's in good health compared to her peers. This is John Hancock's Protection UL 07 (Reprice). I would imagine there are other companies who would entertain her risk as well.

I'm appalled at the number of answerers who need to go back to school.

The product and price mentioned above is for coverage until her age 120. If 99% of companies wouldn't offer her coverage, that means with approximately 500 life insurers (according to VitalSigns) we should expect 5 of them to be able to make offers.

There are some companies that will write large universal life insurance policies to her for estate planning purposes. Basically she would deposit a huge sum of money into the policy and her heirs would get a similar amount tax free when she dies. It's a way around estate taxes, but there is not really any gain from the death benefit.

Most companies will not issue a more traditional policy to someone that old.

My mother is 90 years old and I just moved her in with me when I discovered all her insurance policies have lapsed. If she died today I would have no money to bury her. I think she has another 10 good years because she is in perfect health but I would like to take out an insurance policy on her if possible.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSES. MY MOTHER IN LAW IS 95 AND INSURANCE COVERAGE HAS EXPIRED. SHE HAS VERY LITTLE SAVINGS AND I AM LOOKING AT OPTIONS FOR INSURANCE PROVIDERS. MY NEXT OPTION IS GOING WITH A CONSULTATION TO A FUNERAL HOME IN PAYING FOR SERVICES INDEPENDENTLY.
