Have a friend or someone host a benfit for your mothers' final bills. A couple of chinese auctions, bake sales, raffles, or poker runs can raise more than enough money if planned right and good attendance.

Most funeral homes can work out a payment plan with you. Otherwise, cremation is a less costly alternative, and you can still have funeral services/memorial service at a church or home. |

Your church is the best place to turn to. Don't forget, you can file with social security for a one time death benefit - I think it's like $255, so not much, but it's something. |

Call your local hospital they usally can guide you to organizations that handle this type of stuff. I know this because when I lost my son he was too young for life insurance but there was something set up for this type of situation; so I am sure you will find something too.
