Is there anyone out there who does this that can help me?
Selling insurance?

The reason I am curious is this: Recently I answered an add in the paper about working from home, well it turns out it is selling insurance. For the most part after you"get your feet wet" then you do work from your own home office. I want to do this because I HATE being away from Gabriella. I was curious as to what kind of money I could make? and is it difficult? Right now I am currently working as a bartender during the day Monday-friday 10:30-5:30, but now I need a "big girl" job. The start up fee is only $175.00 for licesning and training. But they wanted to know if I wanted straight commission or salary and comission? salary is only $500.00 per month with 60/40 commission. Any advice would be wonderful. I have never done sales, and I am worried that I may be a little shy at it. I don't like to pressure people either. But, I do like to make money......Thanks in advance

ok, selling insurance isn't something that actually gets DONE in your home - and you're not going to have much luck with sales, bringng a baby along with you.

So 95% of people wash out the first six months - can't even sell $1,000 worth. The other 5%, put in 60 - 80 hour weeks pounding the pavement to get their sales . . . maybe $40,000 a year average, but a few stars can make six figures.

It's NOT a good job for someone who wants to stay at home with their kids, because you're not going to make any money at home.

There are many players out there luring people like yourself into an industry that you never had any exposure. These companies play the attrition game by getting you to write all your friends and family for expensive products.

If you are interested in Insurance then you should explore working for the carrier side first. Entering the industry from a 100% comp stance is extremely difficult even for a person that is well embedded in the community.

Do they give you warm leads, or are you cold calling? It sounds to me like your position will be cold calling, which is a difficult way to make sales and will require more sales pressure to get your foot in the foor. It is the least successful method of selling insurance when weighted with the effort. Also ask them if you must travel to the customers' homes since you are working from home. Finally, do you get a residual income, or just a one time commission? Residuals are how you eventually get a good income stream, but it takes years to really pay off well.

I sell insurance on strait commission from my home and so does my husband. If you are a self starter and can get up everyday and make the phone calls to set appointments and then get in your car and go sell insurance on your appointments you can make tons of money. We work for an agengy out of TX that represents 9 different companies,(we are licensed in 10 different states, we are in GA right now) we can sell to almost everyone we come across that wants and needs insurance
If you can get up and go to work , you can make 6 figures easy. If not it will be the roughest 30 k you will ever make
try www dot bjstewartamd dot com and check out.
depending on what state you live in we give you warm leads and back office support to make you successful

Remember the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is".

Insurance sales or any kind of sales for that matter is very difficult. And with insurance sales especially life insurance, it is strictly needs based selling. There are many "legalities" your must follow and understand. It is definitely NOT a work from home job. Sorry
