Yeah, I had Health Net high deductible plan for some $140 per month for two people. I got it through the website below.

Just like anything else, with health insurance you have to do your homework. There are may individual (meaning non group or non enployer sponsored) plans available. You really need to contact some local agents and look through a variety of plans. Determine what you want the insurance to do...If you are self employed you DEFINATELY want a Health Savings Account. This is a tax based plan that will save you BIG bucks on taxes and allow you comprehensively cover your health expenses. One company I woudl reccommend is called Assurant. They are quite financially sound and my experience with them over 15 years of being in the industry is that they do what they say. Just find a good agent and let them do their job.

I agree with VB, except I won't recommend a company to you, nor will I tell you that HSA is the way to go.
I have many self-employed clients who have "decent" health insurance, but with several different companies. There isn't one company that has the best price on the best coverage for every situation.
Definitely find a local agent who can help you determine what the right coverage is for you, then find the right company to provide it.

Not sure if this will help but I recently got health and dental coverage through Anthem and it costs me $1600 a year and I have a $1200 deductible. I am single no children. Man I hate insurance!!

We just went through this because my husbands insurance at work was too high. GO to ehealth.com you can get quotes and rates and ideas from there. We found that it was cheaper to not have family coverage but to open individual policies for the three of us.
