The insurance I currently have does not cover any cost of my percriptions. Unfortunately, do to health issues, I have to have a few percriptions and the cost of them is pretty outrageous. If at all possible, get samples from the prescribing doctors. Some medications, you can not.
Also, ask your doctor about getting in touch with some of the drug companies - many of them now offer assistance programs.
A third alternative is to comparision price - call a few pharmacies (you might have better luck with the few mom & pop ones left than the chains) and ask them what their cash price would be for your prescriptions. |

I can think of three options:
1) Go to the PPA website at: https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php and enroll in their program;
2) I understand that none of your currect rx's are on the Wal-Mart list, but you should still ask your doctor if s/he can switch any of your prescriptions to the drugs found on the list. 3) Contact your state insurance commissioner's office. They will usually be able to provide you with state-specific information re: programs offered to residents. |

Also, I have used and recommended using Drugstore.com to my clients. Their prices are about the same as Costco's. They have a nice website, and VERY low shipping costs.
Also, some over the counter drugs (claritin) and a few brand names can be gotten cheaper in Canada or Mexico. But be careful about who you work with on-line. I use Canada Pharmacy.com
Remember, you do NOT have to be a costco member to buy drugs there. Just show your prescription at the door. If the greeter hassles you, ask nicely to check with a manager. |

Costco is the cheapest place to fill a prescription I think. Call around and ask different places. Walmart has a 4.00 plan on some prescriptions. Ask your doctor for samples.The road to Mexico can save you big bucks... If you live near . Try some online stores. |

One thing you can do is ask your doctor to prescribe what you need in larger quantities - say 3 months worth rather than one month. It is significantly cheaper to buy prescriptions in larger quantities. |

There is no easy and short answer but you can ask your doctor for samples. Sometimes thats all it takes. they get them for free from their reps. so why not ask!

Go to walmart.com and there is a list of all of their $4 perscriptions. Just click on pharmacy and there should be a link. There's alot more than I thought there would be. Make sure to print out the list before you go to the doctor and ask him if he can find one on the list that will work! |
