The child is covered for his care once the child is born, but paternity needs to be established before the child can be added to his policy. He also would need to have a family policy. If he continues until an individual policy, the child will not be covered.
You are responsible for the prenatal care, the delivery, and your care. His insurance will not cover any of those costs unless the two of you marry before the child is born. |

the child would not be covered until birth, prior to birth you are the person who would have to have insurance to cover medical cost up to and including delivery. Once the child is born the father would have 30 days to add the new dependent on his plan otherwise the child may be considered a late applicant. The childs father needs to refer to his certificate of insurance for specifics on adding covereage to a dependent. Obviously when the dependent is added it will increase his cost of of insurance (if he contributes to the cost, which in todays times this is normally the case). |

If you are carried on his insurance, yes.
If not, the child isn't covered, unless and until the father puts the child on the policy. |

If you're married and Dad has elected Individual and Spouse or Family coverage, it's not an issue. You're all covered. But if you're not married, you and Dad should check the plan details. The child is covered only if you're also listed as (or eligible to be) a dependent under the plan. If the dad wanted to (and he should), he can notify his plan of the baby's birth when it happens and the child will be covered as of his/her date of birth. If you're not listed as a dependent on his plan, your baby's prenatal care would be your responsibility. Some plans won't cover unmarried significant others. Check the Kaiser plan documentation for those specific definitions. |

If you are currently covered with insurance and the plan you have covers maternity, then yes. Some of Kaisers plans do not have maternity coverage so be sure to look or call. |

Yep. The child is once it is born, you are not for the pregnancy. He has so many days to add the baby once born. His premiums will go up, but have him notify his personnel director at his job for details |

Only if you are also covered under his policy. Until the child is born, any prenatal care is considered care for YOU, and is covered under your insurance. After the baby is born, you have 30 days to add her to dad's insurance, if you so choose. |
