Call your local animal shelter and ask.
These animals are just like others they just need lots of love and shelter. You might go to a PetSmart in your area if you have one or local pet store that knows about animals. And, for sure buy a book for that breed.
Some companies like State Farm do cover dogs. You just have to let them know. And, they do not charge extra either. |

Well, the big law, is that you are fully responsible for any damage your dog does. That would include bodily injury to people, including medical bills, pain & suffering, permanent scarring, and death.
It also includes property damage, which would mainly be to your landlord's property (dogs dig, they scratch, they chew furniture, and occasionally kill/injure other neighborhood animals - which are considered property - so you're looking at vet bills and/or value of the pet (which isn't much, actually, contrary to what most people think).
Your landlord, though, can also be sued, for allowing you to keep a hazardous breed dog on premises. Most likely, if her insurer finds out about it, they'll cancel her policy.
And, of course, you won't find an insurance company to give YOU liability coverage, with a Pitt Bull. I know one company that will EXCLUDE the dog bite liability and give you the rest of the liabiltiy coverage, but I don't know of any that will give you liability for that breed. |
