Life Insurance?
My husband and I are a young couple with three children and we are looking into getting life insurance for ourselves other than the ones provided by our employers. What companies would you suggest we look at and what kind of policy do you think is more suitable for young adults and children?
First, you want to check with the companies in your area.
Also, a good place to check is...

No one should answer this for you..... There's not enough information about you to make a suggestion.
So some general points;
Stay clear of anyone selling you variable annuities.
(if they even suggest it........ they don't have your best interest in mind).
Stay away from "whole life" or "permanent life" policies.
Unless you're very rich and have specific estate needs... you'd be doing yourself a disservice.
Anyone saying buying "term insurance" is like renting a home.... is either totally dumb or ripping you off.
Term is generally the only way to go. There are many types of term insurance... and you should decide for yourself.
My situation (years ago) may have been similar to yours.
Check out "Term Life Certain for 25 or 30 years". Policy is guaranteed never to raise the premium and will be in effect for the time elected.
Don't buy insurance for the kids. Get them into no-load mutual funds inside a 529 plan or a UGMA account.
Don't ever buy investment products from bankers or insurance reps.
Good luck!

What's the GOAL? Without a defined goal, no one can tell you which product is most suitable.
I CAN tell you, buy from a company that's rated A by AM Best, or higher. You're probably ALSO better off buying from a local agent.
But life insurance is a financial tool, and just like power tools, you can't select the right one, until you've defined the job.

I recommend speaking with an insurance broker. A broker works with several companies and can get you the best coverage at the best price. To find a broker in your area, log onto a website such as http://www.lifeinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote.
Many people on Y!A criticize whole life and universal life, but ask about them anyway. See articles below for reason why. Good luck!

Without knowing more about your situation it would be hard to tell you what policy is right for you. You can go to http://www.lvhealthins.com and do the research for yourself. You can also ask questions of a licensed life agent there.
