Life Insurance Questions.....?
What kind of tests do they make you do when you get life insurance? I know they will probably check your height/weight and blood pressure. But what else will they do?

It depends on several things. Best thing to do would be to call your Agent and ask.

Factors range from Age, Type of Life Insurance Requested, Company, and amount of Insurance.

For example, at State Farm for a $50k, 5 yr Term Policy, you'll do little more than take a cotton swab to the cheek if you're under the age of 35. This will check for tobacco use and AIDS.

If you're going for $250k, 10 yr term, you'll need to do blood and urine, ht and wt at almost any age.

If you're over 55 and looking for a Fianl Expenses policy, all you'll need is the cotton swab.

If you're going for $1 million or more Permanent Policy, you'll need to prove why you need so much, do blood and urine, and take a physical.

BE WARY OF ONLINE QUOTES. They take nothing into consideration.

Requirements are usually height/weight, blood pressure, urine sample, blood sample. The insuarnce company may then ask your doctor for a statement on your health or results from recent tests.

You may be required to take a physical exam where they will test your blood pressure, draw blood to test for disease. Also, they may take a urine sample to test for other diseases and use of drugs, and tobacco.

Here is a complete explanation of how to prepare for your medical exam:

Try not to eat for at least 8 hours before the examination (12 hours is even better). Drink lots of water the day before and the day of your screening. This will help to ensure the best lab results, best life insurance rating class and maximum savings to you.

Undressing is not required. Wear a short sleeve shirt or one that is easy to roll up. This will make it easier to measure your blood pressure.

The best time for your physical is in the morning. If a weekday is not available, schedule the exam for the weekend, but in the morning. You can take your screening in your home or at work, whichever is most convenient for you.

Avoid coffee, tea or other products that contain caffeine for at least 1 day before your screening. Do not smoke or chew tobacco for at least 24 hours before the screening.

The screener will ask you questions about your medical history, including medical conditions, surgeries, medications, or other treatments you may have had. You will be asked the names and addresses of physicians and hospitals that have treated you. It would help to gather this information before your screening to save you time.

Avoid nasal decongestants and alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to your screening.

Get lots of rest the night before your life insurance medical exam, and schedule the screening for the least stressful time of day for you. Also, don’t exercise for at least 24 hours before your screening. This could adversely affect your results.

Also, there is a company the offers up to $250,000 of term life insurance with no medical exam required. They are rated "A+" Superior by A.M. Best. To learn more - http://www.term-life-online.com/term-life-insurance-no-exam.html

I hope that helps. Best of luck to you.

1. It depends on the underwriting requirements of the company with which you're applying for coverage.
2. It will also depend on the life product you are purchasing and the face amount of the policy.

For most policies people buy, they typically do a paramedical exam (which consists of a series of medical questions, BP check, height and weight); most also require a urine specimen and mouth swab to check for the presence of nicotine. If you're getting higher face amounts or possily applying for "preferred" rates, you could be subject to additional underwriting standards. This is a question for your agent; they should have told you beforehand, actually. It's just good practice for the agent to do--inform you of the process. He/she should know better.

It depends on your age. Generally they have to get a physical from a doctor.

Blood, urine collection and, possibly, saliva. That really is all. The rest is basically doctor's reports.

ben s
ususaly they do a urine and blood test but if there is a very high benifit then they might do more testing...also pending on age there test would vary

mbrcatz
They do urine, blood, and saliva screens to check blood sugar levels, tobacco use, aids, and illegal drug usage, among other things.

They may also want to do a drug test and ask questions about your health in general. Depending on the company they may either send you to a clinic or have someone come to your house (it should be no cost to you)
