misterpeteesmokey | Life Insurance in Alabama for seniors? |
Anyone know of a life insurance company that will insure an 82 year old? My friend's mother has a little life insurance, but she fears that will not be enough when the time comes.. She is in good health also. Thanks in advance |

Life insurance covers lots of different things. Since I'm from Rhode Island I'm not familiar with the Alabama laws and regulations, so I recommend you visit a local insurance agent. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Life-Insurance.html They should be able to help you. |

There are number of life insurance companies who would insure an 82 year old in decent health. You buy life insurance up to age 95 as far as I know. Check with http://www.nailba.org/content/membersearch/index.cfm to find an independent life brokerage agency near you. They work with companies like Lincoln Financial, John Hancock, Transamerica, Prudential, Met Life, and others who insure older individuals. |

Most insurers will not write coverage on anyone that old. If they do, the benefits will be very limited and the premiums huge. |

Sure, but it's going to cost the same as payout. Good, if you're looking to avoid estate taxes. Bad, if you're looking to "make money" off the death.
All your friend's mother needs, unless she's got a disabled adult child to care for, is burial costs. And it's cheaper to prepay that, than to pay an insurance company to insure it, at her age. |
