Will S | Life Insurance question, If you are licensed in one state can you sell to all 50? |
Can you work under a company like AIG and get your own leads, advertise, and sell in all the states beside you own state? How does it work? How can you be a broker and sell different companies to all states? |
|

No. With one exception. If the person you are selling to is actually in the state you are licensed in and signs in that state, then you generally can.
However, you can get a non-resident license in the state(s) you want and there is typically no test involved (assuming you are currently licensed in the state you reside in). There are fees involved, however.
A broker's license is a different animal. While it depends upon the state you are doing business in, generally you must have an AGENT's license for at least two years before you can become a BROKER. And, yes, if you are an independent broker, you can contract with multiple companies.
A note about advertising...you need to check with the DOI of your state about your advertising materials. If it is your own, you could get in trouble if you don't. Especially if you are securities-licensed (series 6 and 63). If you just use company materials and you do not alter them in any way, you can use them. |

I think that depends on each individual state.
You need to go through the Insurance Commission in my state.
You need to know the insurance laws of the state you are selling in. |

Each individual state requires licensing.
How you sell and in what states depends upon the company you contract with.
Good luck! |

NO, each state has its own tests for insurance because of the different laws. |
