I think it is time to move on.

In other words, don't spend money on a life insurance policy on him. Use the money on yourself instead. You have earned it.

If life insurance is required by the courts, then it might be possible:

In all other cases, no. He would have to take it out on himself OR give you permission to take it out on his life.

You may have a couple options to consider.

First, you could contact your lawyer who handled your divorce and ask about getting the court to require him to carry the life insurance naming you as the beneficiary for the amount owed.

Also, you could contact a life insurance agent and ask about getting life insurance on your ex-husband. He may need to take a physical exam and give permission for the life insurance to be taken out on his life. I believe you could own the policy with him as the insured.

I hope that helps! Best of luck to you.

Absolutely you can get coverage.

You may have to petition the court to require it if he won't willingly do it. Make sure you are the owner and beneficiary of the policy.

The insurable interest in this case are your daughters so disregard some of the comments listed here as they are wrong.

No, I don't think so.
His two girls are adults now.
You should of done so when the girls were younger.

However, the girls can get life insurance on their father as long as the father agrees to it.
They can buy a policy based on the fact that in case the father dies, the money will be use for his last expenses. If the girls are still in school, then that's another reason.

They should have no problem issuing a policy for less than $100,000.

Your child support is gone forever and I don't think you can sue him for it anymore.
There is a time limit.

No, there isn't insurable interest, so you can't buy. As you already say, he's an ex husband. You can only buy insurance on your husband.

Get on with life. My father owns me more than I can count in child support. There's no way you can get the money back without going through legal hassles. Forget about it.

It's easier to try to find a new husband.
