tia r | Life insurance bank draft? |
My husband was approved for a life insurance policy for a rate of 14.21. When his medical test came back they raised the raised from 14.21 to 44.95. He never agreed to the rate but we just found out that they have been drafting the funds for over 7 months of 44.95. Now they are claiming that they got a verbal agreement from him (which is untrue) for the rate change. They do not want to send us any documentations with his signatures. What can we do to get the money back? |

Arggg... what a pain. Sorry to hear that.
File a complaint with your state insurance department. They will get it resolved quickly. They will have to prove that he accepted the new rate or will refund your money. Where I am an insurance company has 7 days to respond to a complaint field with the insurance department.
Good luck. |

You can report to the Better Business Bureau in your area after writing to the person in charge of the life insurance company. The BBB will want to know if you first contacted the company. Printout copies of the drafts from the checking account to be ready to mail to the BBB. It usually pays off to have full documentation and records. Also make sure the drafts for those amounts is stopped at the bank for any future drafts. |

more then likely the only thing you can do is report them to the insurance bureau in your state and take them to small claims court. good luck with those thieves |

Before you go crying to the ins commissioner or a lawyer or your kindergarden teacher like these people recommend, did you call the ins co and ask what is going on???
If not, do it , now. I mean, NOW!
Don't be surprised if they can't tell you, ((HIPAA))but they can tell you when and who your husband should call. |

File a complaint with your state insurance commissioner. Have the policy cancelled, and ask for a refund of ALL the premium.
You don't NEED any documentation with his signatures. |

In my state, if there is an uprate in life coverage, the insured must acknowledge the change by signing a bunch on forms, illustrations, and resubmit the EFT draft request; so if your husband does not remember that, you may have been bamboozled. In my agent days, it was not unheard of for agents with a quota to reach to "help" the customers in document signing. Someone would have copies of signatures authorizing extra premium.
I'd start with the insurance company, if they have local managers complain to them about canceling the policy and getting your money back. If no local relief, call the home office customer service and ask for the same thing. No luck, call the state DOI and complain; most have complaint forms on the Internet. You can also request your bank to stop the draft.
Good luck |

You should also have a copy of the labs sent to your husband's doctor to review to make sure he's healthy. If everthing is okay, talk to a real-life broker (not 800-whoever or internet only person) who can help you navigate his health to find the best rate.
My wife has a table H on her policy (about 400% higher than normal), but we're still hanging onto it because the risk is too high without it. I know I would need the money 'cause without her I'm a wreck. |
