Limited liability?
Could you please tell me what Limited Liability means?

campesino
Limited liability is a concept whereby a person's financial liability is limited to a fixed sum, most commonly the value of a person's investment in a company or partnership with limited liability. A shareholder in a limited liability company is not personally liable for any of the debts of the company, other than for the value of his investment in that company. The same is true for the members of a limited liability partnership and the limited partners in a limited partnership.[1] By contrast, sole proprietors and partners in general partnerships are each liable for all the debts of the business (unlimited liability).

Although a shareholder's liability for the company's actions is limited, the shareholder may still be liable for its own acts. For example, the directors of small companies (who are frequently also shareholders) are frequently required to give personal guarantees of the company's debts to those lending to the company. They will then be liable for those debts in the event that the company cannot pay, though the other shareholders will not be so liable.

It means that the only thing covered in an accident is damage to the other car... that is, if you caused the accident and after your deductible. Bodily injury and damage to your car are not covered.

iceblendedmochajavo
it means what it says. your are not fully liable for damages. this includes accidents and the amount of responsibility you are to your actions, intentional or not.

it depends on where you are applying it. corporation, business, personal, insurance etc...

foxyfaerie
If I remember rightly it means that there is a limit placed on how much the company/partners within a company will pay out when action is brought against them.

it means they only cover so much ...if u live in ma try getting mass health ... or...try getting a diff job :) unless they pay a lot so u only have to pay 25 or sumthing like that consult with a rep.

It means there are limits to your liability - most likely on your auto or home insurance.

You probably have coverage that is only limited to damage you make to another vehicle. Full coverage would protect you and everyone else from damage.

Shredded Cottage Cheese
means that (for auto) if you are in an accident that is your fault, they will cover your liability (cost to fix other car) to a limit of whatever policy limit your coverages states...and no more.

IE, you have $50K limited Liability insurance and YOU hit a guy driving a brand new mercedes S-class that gets totalled out because you were going so fast, and it costs $110,000 to replace the guys Benz, then your insurance company will write him a check for $50,000 and then he gets to sue you and ruin what's left of your life for the other $60K. Of course, if he's driving a Benz, he'll get his insurance to pony up the $60K under his under-insured motorists coverage...and then get someone to whack you.
