Looking for Healthcare, Don't know what to pick!?
Hello All. I'm self employed, and looking for optimal health insurance. So far, I'm torn between United Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. I'm REALLY not sure WHAT to do?! Can Anyone help?! Anyone have any suggestions on what they consider to be good medical insurance.? Thanks!

No matter who you pick you need to ask questions of the company. Specifically what the cost is and will the cost go up in 6 months, one year or two years and to what. Also ask how long you have to pay before the benifits kick in. Usually it's three to six months. Since you are self employed maybe you have employees or soon will (with lots of luck) ask about group plans as well. Where I work I have Blue Cross and am happy with it but you need to pick a plan that works for you. Good Luck!!!! Cheers!

If you are self employed and fairly healthy then you will most likely want to purchase an individual health insurance plan instead of the more expensive group health insurance plans.

Be sure and choose a reputable company like Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare, Humana, etc.

The best way to decide on the best plan for you specific needs is to compare quotes from at least 3 different companies side by side and then speak with an independent health insurance agent that can give you some advice (make sure that the agent can work with many different companies).

Here is some more information self employed health insurance that will hopefully save you some money:

Either one will be fine. They are both well known and respected. I prefer United Healthcare, speaking as an insurance agent.

Go to my website and read Health Insurance 101 on the left side. You really need to learn about the different types of plans.

Ohio Health Insurance
Hello. Both companies are excellent carriers and are rated highly. Humana and Aetna are two additional companies to consider.

Of course, much depends on which state you live in and if you have any pre-existing conditions. In addition, the rates can greatly vary between catastrophic and comprehensive policies.

And finally...don't forget to consider an HSA!

I hope this helps.

Take care

BC/BS and Aetna are good companies. Do not go with UnitedHealth Care. They are the worst company and will deny everything and anything. They really should not be in business.
