Many companies do not consider trade schools because they are generally short in duration and with most you are not in class "full time".
Visit a local independent agent. There are student and short term policies specifically designed for people in your position that you can get, the agent will know what is available in your area. Many companies will not accept you on a regular policy if you are unemployed because of the possibility of you getting a job with benefits. |

As other answerers here have suggested, some insurers don't consider trade schools as qualifying you for continued membership. HOWEVER -- all we can do is assume, since we haven't seen the policy that covers you. Make sure your father confirms from the policy that the insurer's action is correct. If they removed you incorrectly, you should be able to appeal.
If their action was correct and your father is employed by a large employer, you should qualify to extend your coverage via COBRA. Have your father discuss the COBRA option with someone in his benefits office at work. |

Many companies don't consider beauty school to qualify. Quite often, the rule is defined as a full time student at an accredited college or university.
You can call the insurance company or have your dad check with his HR rep again. (Though I suspect he may have inquired already, since they already have advised him you'll be removed.) |

Check with dad's carrier. If the school is deemed accredited you can still be covered as a FT student. It varies from State to State. |
