For life insurance, I recommend speaking with an insurance broker. A broker works with many different companies and can find the best coverage and price for you. To find a broker, log onto a website like http://www.lifeinsurancewiz.com and request a free quote. If you consolidate your insurance—auto and life policies—with one company, you should receive a discount. |

Life insurance is good for two things:
1) Money to bury you.
2) Money to replace your income.
If your girlfriend is living on her own, and you two are just dating, then if you die, she's not going broke.
If you two get married, then you will need life insurance of about 10 times your income. The money goes into a mutual fund, and if it gets 10% growth, it replaces your income without ever touching the principal.
I don't know about this particular site. |

As an insurance agent, let me tell you this. It is ALWAYS a good idea to go through a local agent. Insurance is in soft market status right now and you will more than likely see that an independent agent can get you much better coverage for a much cheaper rate!
Hope this helps! |

You should definitely get Life Insurance. And don't worry about your girlf friend getting any money from it if you die. YOU get to choose who is to be the BENEFICIARY.
Life insurance is a PLUS. Funeral arrangements are so expensive. You should get a $25,000 life insurance policy or higher.
As for the site, well, you should get a well-known company like State Farm or Prudential that have been around for so many years for LIfe Insurance. For car insurance, it doesn't really matter. On car insurance what matters is what and HOW it covers you and yours in case of an accident or something for the price you are paying.
You should also look into the place where you work at (for life insurance). If you plan to stay there for years, it would be good to get a life insurance from there. As most companies give you from $1,000 life insurance FREE (company benefit) up to $10,000. Depends on the company.
As for Auto Insurance, depending on the year of your car, you should get FULL coverage.
*my opinions* |

Although that is a good site to shop around on, your best bet is to actually call the companies directly. Most of the rates on there that I have found are usually for the best of conditions and are higher when you call.
For life insurance, if no one is dependent on you now, you have no need for it. Since you want it, shop around for a good term policy. They are the lowest priced and are strictly insurance.
If you want investments, put money in an investment account. You will typically get better rates than when they are tied to a life insurance policy.
Also when checking into life insurance, ask a few questions.
What happens on renewal?
Do I have to prove insurability?
How long are the premiums guaranteed?
What happens when that time runs out?
If we are to get married, can I add my girlfriend on without having to get a new policy?
If we have kids, same question? |

If you have life insurance, be sure to keep your girlfriend happy.
Find the oldest phone book in your home. (I save mine in the garage.)
Open the book to INSURANCE and see if there is a specific listing for Chartered Life Underwriters (CLUs).
If so, check to see if someone has the same last name as you do.
Call that person, or the next one down. (This techniques keeps the first one listed from getting all the calls.)
The CLU is a difficult designation to earn. By going to an old phone book, you are finding someone with experience.
The technique can be employed anytime you have a major investment to make, such as hiring a swimming pool contractor. If the phone number is disconnected, of what value is the guarantee?
I wish you lived in a state where I am licensed. I'd sure like to write a good policy for you...that would include investments within the premiums. Oh, well. |
