First, plan ahead.
Explain to your doctor that you would like to stock some of your medication for emergency. They may give you a month or two ahead.
Start a savings account or add a bit extra to help cover the cost to either buy the drugs or to buy your own insurance temporarily.
If it is necessary, there are programs at Social Services that may cover it. Ask them.
The General Assistance program could also be a help in covering costs short term, but it is a loan that must be paid back. |

Talk to the government. Medicare can help you out. I currently have Medicare as I am a full time student, 21 years old, with a part time job and no health insurance on my own. So the government is helping me out. |

Most Blue Cross individual plans cover medication immediately, even if the medical condition is waivered. Your other option is COBRA. An individual plan will be less expensive, but you do run the risk of pre-existing conditions being excluded, (though not the meds with Blue Cross.) If your only concern is coverage for meds, individual may be the way to go. |

Well, you could take the Cobra coverage offered to you when you left your job, OR (wild thought here) you could be SAVING some of your paycheck, to cover expenses if something like that happens!!! |
