Low cost healthcare?
I lost my insurance about a year and a half ago and have not been able to obtain more since. I currently trying to get work but will have to work as a contractor for a while. The only insurance available for temp workers has pre-existing clauses. Same with insurance purchased privately.

I have a disease called hyperhomocysteinimia(spelling), and also hypothyroidism. I have not seen a doctor or taken medication since losing insurance. Now I have pins and needle sensations in legs and arms and sometimes chest pains and back pains. I know I need medical help but it is something I can't pay for. I don't qualify for our local assistance programs. What else can I do without driving my family into debt.

I asked same question earlier but got only 1 response. Thought I would try a different category.

Sorry to hear about your struggles in finding affordable health care. It is indeed a big problem for so many. I have a plan called AmeriPlan Health. It is not an insurance plan but a great affordable discount plan! You receive discounts off your doctor's visits, x-rays, lab work, etc....What I really like about the plan is that there is no limits on your services and all ongoing medical or dental problems are accepted. The savings for medical services are up to 50% savings and up to 87% percent savings on laboratory fees and lipid panel. It also include other benefits such as dental, vision, RX, and even chiropractic with great savings. The AmeriPlan Health Plan is only $49.95 a month for an individual or $59.95 a month for an entire household. I'm sure you have questions and would like more information on the plan just visit the website at ::

and if you need more information please let me know!

It depends on where you live. America is the worst country I have ever been too when it comes to treating it's own people. If you live near the border of Canada, get traveling medical insurance (like you would to go on holiday) and head accross and see a doctor. Like in Britain (where I am now based) they WILL treat you as they are covered under a National Health Service. I would seek further advice on this question because there is probably a lot more to the answer than I have written.

Unless you are an illegal in this country, your chances of getting help from our government representatives is very hard, many of them forgot who they are there to represent,it is a shame that our citizens are not given priority over everyone else.

We had the same problem with our son, and we could not find ANYTHING that would cover him! We finally had to purchase the horribly expensive insurance through my hubby's work. It costs an arm and a leg, and the co-pays are high also, but it is better than nothing!

Have you tried applying for Medicare? People under the age of 65 can apply if they have a chronic condition. You can also apply for Medicaid (or whatever it is called in your state). This is the welfare portion of the health benefit program. You will then get the assistance you need in addition to having the program pay for your medications and other treatments.

Our health care system is atrocious. We have a country that is far too well to do to not take care of it's citizens. Shame on the USA. Remember this when it is election time folks!!!
