Minimal profit... which is why the upper management of insurance companies have salaries in the upper 6 figures, and the CEOS are multi millionares. Right. Sorry, I sold insurance, and I was told the breakdown for the company I worked for - and it's one of the most ethical out there, actually. Your 80-90% figures are much too high, and ifyou work inthe industry and believe that to be true, then I don't know what to say. More like 55-60% paid out.
As to Dude's question - I think Himmler and Georing were right up there, being just as benevolent and caring. |

And your point is? Here's how it works. Insurance companies collect premiums. They pay 80-90% out in claims. The other 10-20% goes to expenses and a minimal profit. They could pay out more in claims and face two choices. Go bankrupt or charge higher premiums. People complain about the cost of insurance so that's not a viable option. Neither is going bankrupt unless you wish to be insured by a company who can't pay it's claims. Bottom line, the problem with medical insurance is the cost of medicine. And the one thing that drives the cost of medicine up more than anything else is frivolous lawsuits. And one of the biggest perpetrators of that scam is former presidential candidate John Edwards. You want to blame anybody for the lack of benevolence and caring look at that guy and his multi-million dollar home and others of his ilk. They are destroying America. |
