My fiance is pregnant and she has already got medicaid for our new baby. Does anyone know if it will be cancelled when we get married? I could call... but that won't be till Monday.

congrats on the good news. Why does medicaid have to know if you are married or not? I also was in your situation and got the babies card in the first trimester of pregnancy. Medicaid is not allowed by law to turn down a child's care especially a newborn baby!!! You will at some point after the baby , i believe its 1 year have to re certify for the babies card. Only your income would be an issue later on to see if you really need to have Medicaid or regular insurance through you or your wife for the baby. Good luck! |

If you're living together now, and she declared your income as well as hers, then no, being married doesn't change anything.
If she signed up under the CHIPS program for your state, their income guidelines are MUCH more flexible than straight medicaid, so it's very possible that she'll still qualify with YOUR income added. |

Medicaid CAN turn you down. If you are over income, they sure can!
If you get married, she would have to report it to the Medicaid office, because now there is a new dependent in the household family.
They would have to verify your income, too. |
