Since you are a healthy family I would consider an high deductible plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA). You will save quite a bit on premiums and the HSA allows you to set tax free money aside to pay your deductible and other qualified medical expenses. (it's similar to an IRA)
With all the different health carriers and plans available most people really should use a health insurance broker. A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state.
For example a typical broker can have access to 10 major carriers and 60 different plans just for one state.
You can try doing your own research on the Internet, but if you give a good broker 5 minuets they will be able to make suggestions on which carrier may fit you best. You can ask them why they choose the company they are recommending.
I suggest using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area.
Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance.
If you want to learn more about HSA's I would check out http://www.hsainsider.com/
Assurant health has the strongest HSA plan I have seen, lifetime max 25 million and an optional accident/critical illness rider that can cover your deductible |

Nobody here can provide a complete answer for you. Your best bet is to go to a local agent (someone you already do business with is even better), tell them what you need in an insurance plan and let them shop deals for you. What works for me may not work for you - do you know what I'm saying? For instance, a young, single person - a plan with a higher deductible makes sense because it's lower premiums and if you don't use the insurance, you don't pay for the deductible. That won't work for someone with small children. Similarly, someone who travels a lot won't benefit from a plan that offers no out of area or out of network coverage. The agent can help you figure this all out and find you the best deal for you. |

That depends on where you are located. I am in Oklahoma, and Coventry has the best coverage at the best price. Blue Cross usually has a decent plan in most states, too.
Find an independent agent in your area that knows the market and can help you. |

Shop around to the major companies. It'll really depend on where you live, and what kind of coverage you're looking for. I have to say, though, be really careful. Don't go with any companies that say they offer a "discount program." They appear to be insurance, but they really just negotiate discounts with certain providers. I went with one of those, and am still trying 2 years later to still get my money back from an ER visit that I had. Stick to the big names like Blue Cross, United Health Care, Aetna, etc. The premiums may be a bit more, but the coverage is generally much better, and overall you end up spending less money. |

No. Not all companies write in all states, and no one here knows which company has the best deal in your area.
SO, you have to go to a local agent, to get that information. |
