Can anyone provide a link/s to info. on the different medicare supplement plans, to compare them. We are considering Blue Cross Blue Shield, but would just like the info. about coverage. We can get quotes later, thanks. I've tried to find this info on my own. This is for my elderly mother. Thanks!

Call 1-800-MEDICARE and tell them you need assistance in choosing a plan. They work for the government and don't have a stake in the plans, so they can be objective in helping you compare plans. |

Medicare Supplements are offered through insurance companies. Very different than Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Definately start with 1800 Medicare or check you yellow pages for Blue Cross number. Make sure that Blue Cross is the best choice for your mother. Supplements offer 100% coverage as long as Medicare approves, and she'll have no co pays, no deductibles, and can go to any doctor/hospital that accepts Medicare in the United States. Most seniors enjoy the flexibility of a Supplement vs. an HMO or PPO. The major players in Med. Supplements are: Bankers Life, Mutual of Omaha, State Farm, AARP. Check these out before you make a decision. Could save your mother lots of money in the long run. Don't forget once you get this taken care of to get your mom Long Term Care Insurance. If she has any assets this is absolutely necessary. |

Look at Unicare, its one of the new programs they are putting us on now. Took me 3 weeks, 12 family members, 2 lawyers and 3 doctors to choose. www.medicarerxrewards.com |

You said for your elderly. ok . Is your mom a retired union person or was your dad a union person? If so contact that union and they will help you in your quest. If you know any union folks ask them for help. Most unions are really into this medicare thing and they don't want people to get screwed over. If you don't know anybody then just pick out a union and call them and ask for help. If they won't help you then they are a lousy union. You can always e-mail the UAW international headquarters in Detroit,Mich.I hope this is of some help. |

If you're in the tri-state area, look into Hip (www.hipusa.com) or Oxford (www.oxhp.com) |
