As stated above, my work placed switched our health insurance from Anthem to ConnectiCare. For the past few weeks I have been seeing a Psychologist for PTSD and she is not on the listing of providers for ConnectiCare. She is however, a provider on Anthem. Does she need to be a member or something before she can see me again? Or does Connecticare only accept their own listing of providers which they choose? She said she sent in an application to them but hasn't heard back. I'm worried b/c I have come a long way in treatment and would like to continue with her. Thanks. I have an HMO plan btw. |

She needs to be a listed provider for Connecticare or they won't pay anything toward the charges. As already mentioned you can still see her but you'll have to pay the full cost. If she has sent in an application she should follow up to see why they haven't contacted her. |

~~She needs to be a provider, or you will be responsible for the bill. Some insurance companies have out of network coverage at a much higher cost to you, but check directly with your insurance to see if you have this type of coverage.
If not, and you want to keep this doctor see if she'll discount your fee.
If you decide to switch to one of their providers, then speak with the insurance company and tell them what you are seen for and have them help you choose one which fits your needs. All your records can be sent (with your written permission) to the new doctor. |

They cannot stop her from treating you and they cannot stop you from seeing her.
However, they might not pay any of the bill from her, and, if they did pay anything, it would be less than if you went to one of their providers. You would have to pay more of the bill from her than if you went to one of their providers, and might have to pay her entire bill. |

(You would always be allowed to see her if you pay her fee out of your own pocket.) |
