Who owns the car, legally? What coverages are on the policy? Is the boyfriend a listed driver?
It's possible that if your parents own the car, they have collision coverage, and the boyfriend is a listed driver, that your parents will get a check for the damages to the car, less the deductible.
But there are too many unknowns - you'll have to ask YOUR agent. |

you have to set up the claim, and let YOUR adjuster investigate and review your policy in order to find out if it will be covered under YOUR policy . HOwever if the other person was at fault, it doesn't matter if your boyfriend was on you parents policy or if even you have insurance, they should take responsibility. |

That said, on to the question. (For the US) You state your car is covered under your parent's policy. If your boyfriend does not live at the address where the vehicle is gargaged, was not listed as an excluded driver on the policy, and had permission to drive the vehicle, he is classified as a permissive user. Fault doesn't matter. Coverage under the policy will apply as long as you follow other policy conditions (such as cooperation with the insurer). Whether or not the damage to your vehicle gets repaired depends on if your parents purchased collision or UMPD coverage. (Look at the policy.) Go ahead and file the claim. |
