Life insurance covers lots of different things. Since I'm from Vermont I'm not familiar with the California laws and regulations, so I recommend you visit a nearby insurance agent. http://www.easylifeinsuranceguide.com/California-Life-Insurance.html They will be able to assist you.

It depends who the car is registered to.

If the car is registered to your dad then you can take a policy that listed you as the named insured and lists him as the owner.

Or you can take out a non-owned vehicles policy if you do not own the car. I believe State Farm can do this for you. Maybe others can also. However, the non-owned vehicle policy anyone can write for you. It covers you as a driver in any car as long as you do not own it.

He would have to have a Texas address and a Texas license.

Aside from USAA, if you qualify, every insurance company is going to require that you have a license for the state you live in, that your car is registered to the same state you say you live in, and that the insurance policy is written on the policy forms for that state.

Each state has different insurance requirement. Your policy MUST be on the forms for the state you live in, and your car is registered in.

USAA will make an exception, if you are on active duty.

No. To list you as a secondary driver under his policy the vehicle would need to remain in Texas. Insurance rules, laws, and prices vary by state. If you drive the vehicle in another state, for longer then 60 days, the company can deny any claim or coverage.

Everyone wants the cheapest auto insurance. Everyone is constantly looking comparing this auto insurance provider with this one. It's almost like a parlor game, isn't it. I've done it too. If you've ever gotten a speeding ticket or have a young teenager itching to drive that you've just added to your policy or if you've been involved in an accident, it can get more and more expensive, can't it? Auto insurance is too expensive. You're not alone. it's true for almost every American family. You may get your queires answered here,

http://www.best-autoinsurance.we.bs/

The problem for discounts, however, is quality. Many ask is, "Is this cheap auto insurance worth buying? What kind of coverage do I have to sacrifice for a cheaper premium?" What is a small bi-yearly or yearly or monthly bill can become astonishingly high if you cheat on your deductible coverage or coverage amount. You need to therefore really search the different companies for the best, most comprehensive policy. Hope is here. There are good companies out there.
