Highly unusual, that 1. she'd have a policy and 2. she'd bypass her kids in favor of a grandkid.
Anyway, you have to go through her papers and cancelled checks for the past year, to find out who she was paying for the insurance.
If you're asking, is there a central database where you can look it up, the answer is no. Life insurance is a private transaction - protected by the privacy laws.
If Grandma was one of the 30% of Americans who died with active life insurance in place, you'll find records - either a copy of the policy with her important papers, or cancelled checks, showing which insurance company she paid. You don't NEED the policy - you can get the policy number and company name off the cancelled check. |

go thru all of her bank statements... life insurance policies are usually paid monthly and most people set the payment up automatically thru the account or if they send checks you can request copies of all the checks she sent in the last year from her bank.
Don't throw away any old check books, etc. with any luck you will find the Co. name on her check registry.
If all else fails... wait until they send their monthly bill to her.
They don't know she is dead when nobody sends them the death certificate and will most likely continue to bill her... |

You need to look through her stuff and find the policy. You should have remained closer to her and spent time with her, and she would have told you where to find it or given it to you. |

Ya like others have said, look through her banking statements/checkbooks. Unless she paid a single premium whole life policy, it's very likely she's been constantly paying premiums. There should be some record of it. |
