Proud Mommy to a BOY!
My husband lost his wallet??
It had his social security card and driver's license in it. In order to get a replacement social security card, you have to have ID...his driver's license was the only ID he had. In order to get a replacement driver's license, you have to have your social security card. WTF? Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this straightened out??

First call both offices and explain the situation and ask them what they suggest. Find his birth certificate and your marriage license. Look for any hunting or fishing licenses he may have gotten. His car registration may work. Current mail that you have received with his name and address on it. Credit card statements. Work id's or passports. Maybe a medical bill or something that would have his social security number on it. Did his workplace make a copy of his drivers license or ss card? If so get a copy of that. Insurance cards (medical and auto). Just gather as much info as you can. I am sure he will be able to get a new one. This happens to other people I am sure. I would start by calling though. Best wishes and let us know what you end up having to do. Just in case we are ever in this situation.

try getting martal records, fishing liscense, and anything else with ss # on it or call them and see if they have a suggestion You did not mention birth certificate and he can use that or a marriage liscense to get the socail security card.

A Birth Certificate, voter's registration card or passport will be sufficient enough to get the SS card and then once you get that you can get your license.

Good Luck!

The others have answered that question. But all the places that were in his wallet need to be notified. That could lead to Identity theft, if they get his s,s, #, and D.L.# they can get credit cards and bank accounts, etc. See if you can have those numbers changed. That is what I would be worried about........xx

1. Since they give social security cards for little kids (less than one year old) who are obviously not old enough to have a driver's license or any other ID, you obviously can get one without a ID.

2. You can get a driver's license without a social security card. You need to have
(1) proof of being in the U.S. legally. If born in the U.S., this is a birth certificate from the local government in the place of birth. If born elsewhere and now a citizen, this is naturalization document (citizenship papers) from the INS or CIS (they changed name). If a foreign citizen, this is a Visa from the INS or CIS (they changed name).
(2) adequate proof of identity. Examples of documents that can be presented (you may need more than one) include his previous driver's license (even if it is not valid to drive, because it is expired or from another state, it still establishes identity), passports, bank statements, utility bills, etc.

**Mom of two angels in Heaven**
My sister in laws boyfriend went through the exact same thing. He just went and explained to them...I can't get one without the other! Basically yelled at them and they ended up just giving it to him.

My mom had to get a new SS card and the only form of ID they would take from her was her pay stub...A PAY STUB!! Something anyone can make up! Her birth certificate, drivers license, all those were invalid forms of IDs! (She lives in Georgia so maybe that has something o do with it : ) ! ) Just call both offices and explain the situation....there has to be something they can do..Good luck!
