hoosier_daddy84 | My insurance claim agent called and said....what should i do? |
my g/f was in an accident last sept with an uninsured driver...the unisured dr. was 100 % responsible because they ran a stop sign.....well my g/f was going 50 mph which was the spd limit and totaled her car and was injured....we made a claim and her total meds were $15,000 and her policy limit for unisured motorist bodily injury was $25,000....so we made a claim for the $25,000 for med+pain and suffering.....well exactly 1 day before it was 6 months the insurance called and said that because we demanded the policy limit it had to go through managment to be approved....is this a good sign ? are they possibly ready to settle?how long do they usually take to review it? they have all the docotors reports and records and she had no prior back or neck problems recorded before the accident......the doctors said she was injured from the accident |

Most companies have a "threshold" where if the claim check is over XYZ dollars, it has to go through management - because an adjuster isn't allowed to issue a check for larger amounts. It helps cut down on insurance fraud (adjusters working with outside people to defraud companies).
So it's pretty normal, for something over $20,000, to have to have someone else look at this. The review shouldn't take more than a week. Once a week they probably all sit down, and go over a dozen files.
You're really only looking at 10k for pain & suffering, the other 15k is meds, so I really don't think this should be too tough. I'm just surprised it took so long. |

Some companies need senior management to approve maximum claim. This is not new and nothing to worry about. |

Having management review a policy limits demand is standard procedure and nothing to worry about. Based on the info you have provided I would the mgr would approve the limits to be paid.
FYI if this matter went to court or mediation it is possible that the other driver would not be found to be 100% at fault. Even though your g/f had the right-of-way, in she still had a duty of "lookout" to make sure it was clear to proceed into and through the intersection. |

As the others have stated, it is standard operating procedure for a manager to approve a claim if it is over the reps authority. However; I wouldn't get your hopes up on a manager approving the pain and suffering portion of your claim. |
